CHURCH STREET GUESTHOUSE

Temporary lodging for persons visiting or moving to the Martinsville-Henry County area.

The Guesthouse offers up to 2900 square feet of space for temporary lodging, for a small party or reception, or for renting space for temporary display and sale of goods or services. Parking is available at the front and rear of the house. The house is zoned P-2, allowing multiple uses. Built in the early 1920s, this two-story brick house is located near Uptown Martinsville in a historical district.

How much space do you need? The Guesthouse is conveniently divided into distinct sections that can be opened or securely closed off, providing guests with privacy and security.

The First Floor offers a private bedroom with full bathroom. A dining room or office, a fully equipped eat-in kitchen, a front room/parlor with fireplace, and another half bathroom are available on the First Floor. Rooms can be rented separately or combined to design a suite to meet the guest's need. The first floor has a private entrance, cable television, local telephone service, and wireless Internet connectivity.

The Second Floor offers four private bedrooms, a fully equipped eat-in kitchen, and two full bathrooms. Rooms can be rented separately or combined to design a suite to meet the guest's need. Room 1 has a king size bed. Rooms 2 and 3 have a full size bed. Room 4 has a fold-down Murphy bed and sitting room. Each bedroom has cable television. Local telephone service is located in the upstairs hallway. Wireless Internet connectivity is available.

The Guesthouse has a large, high-vaulted attic room on the Third Floor. It has been occasionally rented for sleeping quarters, quiet meditation or exercise.

A laundry room, recreation room with a television and a desktop computer with Internet access, and a secure storage room are located in the basement. These rooms are connected to the first and second floors by interior stairwell.

Linens and towels are provided. Maid service is not provided. Meals are not provided.

409 Church Street East - 120-5002-0006 - Anslie Lester House

Single Dwelling. Stories: 2.50. Style: Tudor Revival, 1927.

December 2005 Survey: This two-story, three-bay, Tudor style dwelling has a hipped roof with interesting gables and two interior brick chimneys. Structure has a narrow boxed cornice with an open, overhanging eave and exposed rafters. Shed dormers, featured on all sides of dwelling, contain original 6-light tripartite window, now covered with storm windows. There are two original, 6-light casement windows flanking door. On first floor is a 4-light, fixed-paned replacement window. On second floor are two 6/6 double-hung sash replacement windows, and one paired. Main entry has a bracketed gable overhang over a single-light door with 9-lights and two panels. There are two more entrances off recessed porch along eastern facade, one is a single-leaf, 6-paneled door, the other is a double-leaf door, half-light and half-paneled. Eastern porch is supported by paired square posts and is enclosed with a brick half-wall. Frame structure has first floor constructed of brick laid in stretcher bond. The second story has stucco and half-timbering. Structure is supported by a solid concrete foundation.

Minimum Rates.

Prices and availability will vary, depending on peak season and special use. Rates will be higher during race weeks at the Martinsville Speedway. State sales and local taxes will be added to the rental rate. A minimum two-day rental is required. Monthly rental rates are available. A written rental contract and damage deposit may be required.
